* SHOWING YOUR MIN-PIN*
The Minpin is a unique animal in the Toy Group .
It is entirely possible that he could more appreciably be placed
in the Terrier Group because of his Terrier type temperament.
In my opinion a good Minpin should never be stacked,
(hand set up) on the floor in the same manner as most of the Toys.
To do so precludes demonstration of the animation & true
temperament in the really good Miniature Pinscher show dog.
The Minpin can best be judged in his natural pose,
Standing himself & changing the pose from time to time
as he becomes interested in the happenings around the ring.
This is especially true in the Minpin puppy that is just starting
it's show career.
Being too strict & damanding social conformation too strenuously
in the early career of the puppy can certainly shorten
the show career of a potentially good specimen.
Although I do not advocate showing an untrained dog or one
that cannot be gaited properly or handled or tabled.
I strongly urge that the Minpin not be over-handled or made overly
obedient. On occasion I have seen a Judge penalize the
over-exuberent Minpin by putting up an inferior specimen
over the 'bubbling' youngster. Perhaps there is some basis for this,
However the sign over the building says both"Dog" & "Show"
& in my opinion the second word should be taken more
literally than it sometimes is.
Surely the naughty little Minpin who moves about in an
animated manner occasionally spinning on the lead,
Challenging other specimens in the ring & showing
real interest in everything that is going on around him,
Is very appealing to the ringside.
I therefore feel that the Minpin should be encouraged
to "Show" & "Show Off"'.
